School Life

Some of the children arrive early for Breakfast Club at 8:00am, where they enjoy an unhurried breakfast and a friendly chat, before the other children arrive. At 8:50am a member of staff will supervise the children’s arrival. The whistle goes at 8:55am, signalling time to line up in their classes. On Monday we have the Monday Mile, walking or jogging around the playground to help minds and bodies prepare for learning. On the other days, for KS2, there is Wake and Shake – a fun 5 minute aerobics session, led by the older children. During the morning, most classes have English and Maths lessons and break is at 10:30-10:50am, when they can have a healthy snack or fruit before playtime and lunch is from 12:00-1:00pm.

We cook our school meals on site from scratch, which are both delicious and nutritious. After this the children get the opportunity to play in our lovely grounds, climb the climbing frames or sit quietly in our spiritual garden. During the afternoon the children learn: RE, Geography, History, PE, Science, French (KS2), Music, PSHCE, Art, Computing and  Design Technology. At the end of the afternoon, we have a collective worship in the school hall. Here we give the children a chance to calmly reflect on their day and share our school values. School finishes at 3:20pm and most days after school, clubs are run. An after school care club is run by Lower Covey Montessori in Yetminster until 6pm and our children can be collected from school to go there.
