French Penfriends visit Thornford
Bonjour, ça va? We have been practising our French and communication skills this week as we hosted 59 children and 7 adults from our Twinning School in Hudimesnil, near Granville, in Normandy. The French children (Year 4/5/6) visited us on Thursday and Friday after 2 days in London and a trip to Harry Potter World. Much to everyone’s delight they shared their double-decker bus to transport Oak and Elm to Sherborne for a visit to the Old Castle and Sherborne Abbey. Children (not going on the trip to Sherborne) stayed in school with their French penfriends and had a go at different activities: making pic collages; friendship bracelets; reading French stories to Beech and Acorn classes and going on a nature/colour scavenger hunt. On Thursday, we all enjoyed the most amazing Cream Tea produced by Mrs Sims, Mrs Bartlett, Mrs Chapman and Mrs Weatherhill with supporting coffee cakes from Mrs Ridout. The French children had never tasted scones with clotted cream and jam before! We were very sad to see the French go on Friday but they left Thornford with some very happy memories that we all share.
Vive Hudimesnil, vive Thornford!
