What have we been learning this week?
It’s been another very busy week in Beech with lots of work on our topic. In DT, we loved creating our healthy tartlets using a variety of vegetables and other healthy foods. We practised slicing and grating as well as choosing healthy ingredients to make our tartlets appetising. In maths, the Year 1 have been introduced to the number bond, or ‘part, part, whole’ diagram. Year 2 have been working on number patterns counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s. In English, we found that a naughty elf had muddled up our fiction and non fiction topic books. We learnt the differences between the two to help us organise them again. We have also been looking at sets of instructions to help us find common features. Next week, we will be writing our own instructions for making a healthy tartlet. In science, we discussed the senses and why they were useful. We loved creating our own zig zag books all about them. Finally, we were amazed to discover the distances that some of our food had travelled, including produce from South America and Africa. We will be displaying the food packaging around a world map in the Beech Classroom.
