beech class 6th October 2017
What have we been learning this week?
We’ve had a fantastic week of writing this week. Earlier in the week, we worked on using adjectives to describe nouns and created some brilliant acrostic poems. We really enjoyed performing our class acrostic poem in church today at the Harvest festival and hope that you all enjoyed it too. On Thursday, we returned to our Great Fire of London topic. After hearing some extracts from Samuel Pepys’s diary and acting in role, we did some amazing independent writing, imagining that we were eye witnesses to the fire. This is displayed on our writing progress wall so that we can see how much we have improved since our last piece of independent writing and think about what we want to work on next.
Lots of children have been celebrating success in Quick Maths this week, proving that a growth mindset and perseverance will help them attain their target. Year 2 have also been partitioning numbers in different ways and Year 1 have been working on addition.
We all enjoyed a visit from a specialist music teacher, helping us learn songs from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
