Acorn class 30th September 2016
News from week beginning 26th September
We have had another super week this week, with lots of activities centered around the fabulous Roald Dahl book, The Enormous Crocodile. The children loved reading all the crocodile’s gory escapades then went on to write speech bubbles for the crocodile. The children came up with adjectives to describe him then made Wanted posters to warn people of his dastardly deeds.
In Maths we revised counting, teen numbers and tens and ones, using dienes, Numicon and multilink cubes.
YR children learned m, d and g with the ever-popular help of Sidney the Snake and Scrap on the interactive TV. They are really coming along with their blending of the sounds into words and they learned the tricky word ‘I’. Y1 children revised the sounds ng, or, ur and ar and the tricky words was, you, they, are, my, he, she, we, and be.
The Y1 children used Pic Collage on the iPads, first taking photos of their partner then decorating the photo with text, ‘stickers’ and colourful backgrounds. They also brainstormed different ways of looking after God’s world, including putting rubbish in the bin, not building too many buildings and not killing endangered animals.
They may well be nagging you this weekend about turning off the tap while you do your teeth and turning off lights when you’re not in the room. Sorry about that!
Have a super weekend and Mrs Pink looks forward to seeing all the children at 8:55am on Monday.
