School News 19th October 2018
What have we been learning this week?
We’ve been writing wizards this week in Beech. We retold the story of the Jolly Postman using our story map to help us and then wrote it in our books. We produced some amazing pieces of work! Today we used our story maps again to help us think of a part of the story or a character that we would like to change and then wrote our own stories. In maths this week, the Year 2 children tackled some really tricky column additions where they learnt to regroup ones into tens. The Year 2 children have been practising their subtraction skills and learning different vocabulary associated with taking away. We loved combining science and geography yesterday when we went on a sound hunt around the school. We used our sense of hearing to identify a range of sounds in different places and the Year 2s plotted the sounds on a plan of the school, using their own symbols and a key.
