Acorn class

News from week beginning 24th September

Another busy week in Acorn Class this week…

In Phonics the Reception children learnt the sounds m, d and g and continued to practise segmenting and blending CVC words using sound buttons and robot arms. In Year One the children revised the ng, or, ur and ar sounds and learnt the new tricky word could.

In Maths the Year One children looked at number bonds using the part, part, whole concept and in particular we worked on them being able to tell a story based on a given number bond. They also revised how to form numerals correctly and practised reading number words. The Reception children worked on number recognition, touch counting, learning to tell number stories and number formation.

In English we read ‘The Enormous Crocodile’ which we all loved listening to. The Reception children practised writing their names and one word captions, listening carefully for the sounds that they could hear in words like snap. The Year One children wrote descriptive sentences about the naughty crocodile and then made Wanted! posters to alert people to his clever tricks!!

Have a lovely weekend.
