beech class 8th February 2018
What have we been learning recently?
It’s been extremely busy in Beech class recently, with lots of work and fun! We really enjoyed learning more about the Victorian period, though we were quite shocked by the lives of poor children compared to those of the rich, and compared to the lives of children in Britain today. We loved discovering the works of William Morris and have begun sketching our own designs. We will use these after half term to create printing blocks, following in the Morris tradition. In maths, we have continued to work on our times tables, thinking about how they can be used to help us with division. We have also investigated the links between addition and subtraction with our maths partners. We had an amazing week writing stories last week, and this week we evaluated our own work and tried to make improvements. This week we have loved learning poems by heart and can’t wait to take part in our poetry recital and celebration on Friday.
We have a Victorian School day coming up on the 6th March and a school trip to the Rural Life Museum in Glastonbury on the 21st March. Details to follow shortly!
