Acorn class

News from week beginning 20th November

Another busy week in Acorn class this week with Nativity and Christmas Fair preparations top priority!

This week in phonics the Reception children learnt the digraphs ee as in tree, or as in fork and ai as in rain and the trigraph igh as in night. They also learnt the tricky word was by waving their tricky finger at it! In Year One phonics the children revised their knowledge of split digraphs for example a-e in cake and high frequency words and they also learnt mnemonics for my and her – see if they can remember them to tell you…

In Maths this week the children learnt the days of the week (they particularly enjoyed singing the days of the week song to the tune of the Addam’s Family), the months of the year and the 4 seasons.

In English we had great fun finding out facts about spiders and writing our own spider fact files. See if your child can remember an interesting fact about a spider to tell you…

In other news we have been practise, practise, practising the Nativity. Thank you for helping your children to learn their lines, they are all doing so well and the songs are so catchy that I’m sure you have all heard a sneak peek of what there is to look forward to!

Have a lovely weekend,

The Acorn Team 🙂
