beech class 13th January 2017
What have we been doing this week?
Beech Class have worked very hard telling the time this week. The Year 1 made o’clock and half past times on small clocks and drew hands on clock faces to show these times. We found it quite difficult to get the small (hour) hand in exactly the right place and to draw hands of the correct length. The Year 2s continued the challenge with further work on quarter to and quarter past and encountered some of the same difficulties!
Both year groups enjoyed programming the Bluebot and Beebot robots to follow instructions. We reinforced our understanding of clockwise, anti-clockwise, quarters, halves and whole turns whilst having lots of fun.
In English, we began our unit on traditional tales with the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We worked hard on describing Little Red using correct spelling and punctuation, expanded noun phrases and some children even managed to include different sentence types.
On Thursday, we had a visit from the NSPCC education team who told us how to keep safe. We enjoyed meeting their mascot Buddy and learnt a lot. We created some posters to explain how to identify bullying and will be sharing them during our parents’ assembly.
