What have we been up to this week?
This week, our maths focus has been on numbers to 10 for Year 1 using our new 10 frames, including recognising and writing them and counting on and back confidently. Year 2 have been working with place value apparatus to identify the tens and ones in 2 digit numbers. Both year groups have enjoyed using maths equipment for work and play!
In English, our focus text is ‘Willy and Hugh’, a lovely story about friendship and kindness. We acted in role and loved looking at the videos afterwards. We have also practised reading in a guided group, using our handwriting and ‘SPAG’ books and singing lots of lovely phonics songs.
The children really enjoyed their first PE lessons with Premier Sport and using the ipads to create labelled pictures of their bodies. We have given everyone a spelling sheet and one page homework sheet. Each child has also been allocated an Active Learn online maths game and has taken home a sheet with login details and instructions on how to access the game. If there are problems, please let me know and we can play them in our computing session next week.
Enjoy the weekend!
