Thornford Church School is a ‘Rights Respecting School’ (part of the UNICEF ‘Right Respecting Award) and currently has achieved the internationally accredited Level 1
Our School Council consists of 12 members which represent each year group from Year 1 to Year 6 (Reception Class are usually represented in the Summer Term when they have settled into school life!)
A Chairperson and Secretary are chosen from our Senior Pupils within Year 6.
The committee usually changes termly to give as many pupils as possible a chance to attend.
Activities have included:
– Organising a Christmas Card competition
– Designing a new Eco-Bin
– Raising money for charity via organised events (local, national and international)
– Discussing school issues to help run the school smoothly and uphold pupil’s rights as well as taking responsibilities seriously
